Smile: city hands out clear masks to communicate better

The City of Coral Gables is providing area businesses with clear masks to help staff better communicate with people who are hard of hearing, deaf or simply lost in communication.
These masks have also proven to improve communication with people who have other types of developmental disabilities, are not fluent in English, and are simply in need of a smile, said Raquel Elejabarrieta, Coral Gables’ director of labor relations and ABA coordinator.
