Jessica Goldman Srebnick: Directing Goldman Global Arts and The Wynwood Walls

Curator of Wynwood Walls and CEO of Goldman Global Arts, Jessica Goldman Srebnick has continued her late father’s legacy and vision of making space for creatives and artists from around the world.

Since taking leadership in 2012, Ms. Goldman Srebnick has established what is considered the heart of Wynwood with the Wynwood Walls.

She is a visionary thinker, and she has played a crucial role in shaping the look and feel of the neighborhood’s arts environment. Under her guidance, Goldman Properties, the Wynwood Wall Foundation and Goldman Global Arts have grown into a modern force, with a focus on art, architecture and community outreach and development – bringing the good out of people of all ages.

Goldman Properties is a commercial developer founded by her father, Tony Goldman, in 1968 and based in Miami. Specializing in the revitalization of urban neighborhoods throughout the United States, the company brought new life to the nation’s top neighborhoods including SoHo New York City in the 1970s, Miami Beach in the 1980s, Center City Philadelphia in the 1990s, and Wynwood in 2005.

Goldman Properties partners with unique businesses to scale neighborhoods where businesses thrive and tourism flourishes. Blending art and real estate, many of the commercial properties owned by Goldman Properties provide canvasses for international artists to optimize the exterior of these properties to build community by creating narrative-driven artworks.

Having once envisioned becoming a child psychologist and later rising through the ranks in retail fashion, her life choices paved a pathway toward the arts, which she says is her passion and what she was meant to do. Ms. Goldman Srebnick now curates the Wynwood Walls, an outdoor street art museum.

She seeks and collaborates with emerging and established artists to create unique experiences on the neighborhood’s walls and the arts community as a whole. The Walls is now considered one of the top arts and culture tourist destinations.

Throughout her career in Miami, she has also established the Wynwood Walls Foundation to support local organizations in uplifting communities through artistic expression, vision and creativity.

The Wynwood Walls Foundation was created in an effort to expand the reach of the Wynwood Walls beyond the walls and into the lives of a new generation of artists. The foundation is driven to empower and inspire Miami’s youth while continuing the legacy of the Goldman family and honoring the many extraordinary artists who have contributed to the Wynwood Walls.

With partnerships like Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Miami; Lotus House; Norwegian Cruise Line; Miami-Dade County, and The Hardrock Stadium, the community and visitors will have an opportunity to be exposed to fine art, no matter the circumstances.

“Even though we have accomplished so much in the past two decades when it comes to art,” she said, “there is still so much to do and build on. Miami’s arts scene is still growing as it establishes itself as a top arts district.”

Ms. Goldman Srebnick spoke with Miami Today reporter Abraham Galvan.

This week’s profile will appear in next year’s Book of Leaders.
