Overlapped transit trips await real-time tracking

Miami-Dade has yet to eliminate overlapped transit services by Metrobus and city trolleys, as not one of the 34 municipalities has updated its interlocal agreement to provide for real-time tracking, Assistant Transportation Director Carlos Cruz-Casas said Tuesday.
That could change as cities seek to use their portion of the countywide half-percent transit tax known as the “half-penny” to pay for on-demand services like Freebee, said Javier Betancourt, executive director of the Citizens’ Independent Transportation Trust, the tax’s overseer.
