Florida National Guard plans base on Homestead land

The Florida National Guard plans to expand its operations in South Florida by leasing or buying 70 county-owned acres in Homestead just north of the Homestead Air Reserve Base.
Miami-Dade commissioners last week agreed to lease the land to the military agency for $78,000 a year for five years. The Florida National Guard was also given the right to buy the land for $1 from the county.
