Businesses from Chile visit to link with tech leaders

Miami as the gateway to America is the focus of a visit by 16 Chilean companies coming to Miami from Oct. 6 to 10 to connect to investors and local tech leaders.

It’s part of a four-city tour that in Miami will work with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and eMerge Americas to host a panel highlighting ProChile’s business partners, provide networking opportunities and showcase Chilean companies.

Chile & the USA: Partners – Present & Future is an invitation-only event from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at Mana Tech, but registration is open to the community, local investors and anyone interested in learning more about Chilean innovation. To get involved, email us.miami@prochile.gob.cl.

There are two participating associations, FinteChile and Chile Social Innovation. Participating companies include Ninja Excel, SingularisVR, Pipoll, CEDETEC, AugeXP, MUUD, Chef Legion and Ilógica.

“What we’re trying to highlight here is the importance of Miami being half on a gateway to and from Latin America, but also Chile being a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation in Latin America,” Trade Commissioner of ProChile Miami Claudia Serrer said.

The Chile Tech Tour aims to bridge Chilean fintech, edtech and social innovation companies with the Miami market. This partnership would position Chile as a reliable source of tech-based services and innovation while bringing technological solutions and opportunities for the local business ecosystem to grow in Miami.

“It’s the natural place to be for Chilean companies or any companies coming from Latin America,” Ms. Serrer said. “In the last few years, Miami has positioned itself as the place where you want to start exploring the US market because of how the ecosystem has built itself … you have the support of the corporate sector, the academic sector, the public sector all together providing all these different initiatives that build a platform to the companies that want to expand internationally.”

The president of FinteChile, which unites more than 150 Chilean fintech companies, will connect with the fintech ecosystem – a network of fintech companies, financial institutions, tech providers, investors and consumers that make up the financial system. Chile Social Innovation will be meeting with nonprofit organizations and learning about philanthropy, innovation, impact and the potential for future collaboration.

“Miami is the one that has the largest delegation and an important number of companies, but also two important associations that will be here connecting with the local ecosystem,” Ms. Serrer said. “We believe this is part of the process we’ve been building throughout the years, with Miami being an entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.”

On the tour’s agenda are immersion programs for EdTech and GoGlobal companies, which range from cybersecurity to healthtech. The goal, Ms. Serrer said, is to see how they fit with the local market.

“It’s a platform we could trust… we know that it works, we know that it has an important support,” she said, “so we, as companies coming from abroad, believe that it’s the right place to be, and you have initiatives like eMerge Americas, which I believe is the heart of Miami in terms of getting together all the companies and different sectors.”
