Roberto Gonzalez: Targeting aerospace and aviation growth to build new jobs
In August 2024, Roberto Gonzalez was elected to the Miami-Dade county commission by a wide majority.
Since being appointed to the commission in November 2022 by the governor, Mr. Gonzalez has focused on improving the quality of life for West Kendall. His priorities include protecting homeowners living in HOAs and condominium associations, fighting against child sex trafficking, supporting law enforcement, maintaining clean streets, enhancing parks, and pioneering space industry opportunities in Miami-Dade.
Commissioner Gonzalez currently is chair of the commission’s Safety and Health Committee and also serves on the Intergovernmental Committee.
Before joining the commission he was founding partner of PereGonza The Attorneys and has also served on the Republican Party of Miami-Dade’s Executive Committee as secretary from 2016 to 2020.
Born in Guatemala and legally immigrated with his parents into the United States at age 3, he grew up in Miami and has been a resident since 1990.
Mr. Gonzalez says he’s a proud product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, having graduated from Miami Coral Park Senior High in 2005. He attended Miami Dade College and earned a bachelor of arts in English literature from St. Thomas University in 2011. He went on to earn a JD degree from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2014.
As an entrepreneur who started his own law firm, Mr. Gonzalez said he is an ardent supporter of education and mentorship, increasing civic engagement, fostering small businesses, and expanding economic opportunities for all.
