Rodrick Miller: Beacon Council CEO sees New York, Latin America offices

In January 2023, Rodrick Miller was appointed president and CEO of the Beacon Council following the untimely passing of the organization’s previous head, Michael A. Finney. The organization is Miami-Dade County’s official economic development partnership with a mission to foster long-term prosperity and inclusive growth for the entire community, its businesses and residents.

Mr. Miller is an economic development leader with decades of experience and a track record in urban recovery, trade and foreign investment, strategic planning and project finance. He has led economic recovery in New Orleans, Detroit and most recently Puerto Rico, after some of the most challenging times the communities faced – natural disasters and bankruptcy.

Over his career, Mr. Miller has brought more than $6 billion in private investment and 50,000 new jobs to communities where he has worked.

As President and CEO of the Beacon Council, Mr. Miller is focused on attracting and retaining companies that create high-value jobs and actively invest in the community. He champions Miami’s advantages as a diverse, global business destination, collaborating with key stakeholders to leverage the strengths of the market’s target industries, deliver workforce solutions and create opportunities that drive long-term economic prosperity and inclusive growth for residents and businesses.

Mr. Miller spoke with Miami Today reporter Genevieve Bowen.

This week’s profile will appear in next year’s Book of Leaders.

Miami Today publishes a Book of Leaders every year. This book is a compilation of all The Achievers profiled in every edition.

The information in this book is available nowhere else – the stories of the women and men who are shaping the development of Greater Miami.
