Profile: Jay Phillip Parker

About a year into his role as CEO of Douglas Elliman’s Florida Brokerage, Jay Phillip Parker is pushing brokerage and real estate in South Florida forward with an eye not just on continuing the level of service and quality but raising the bar and transforming the profession into one that matches the quality of its buyers. Luxury in Greater Miami and South Florida has always been a constant, but the level and type of luxury has changed, Mr. Parker said. Clients are looking for bigger units with tailored, unique amenities and developers are building for those demands. As buyers become more sophisticated, then too should their brokers, and by working with industry peers, Mr. Parker says he is hoping to upgrade real estate in South Florida. Mr. Parker joined Douglas Elliman’s team with almost two decades in real estate, much of it on the legal side. As a graduate of the University of Miami’s law school, he began in the real estate departments of law firms before starting boutique real estate title insurance company Clear Title Group in 2001. From there, a joint venture with Titan Capital in 2006 ushered in Titan Capital Florida. In 2010, Mr. Parker formed Beloff Parker, eventually Beloff Parker Jacobs, before bringing his legal and real estate knowledge to Douglas Elliman.
