Miami takes steps to control feeding of homeless

The City of Miami is a step closer to instituting regulations for feedings of the homeless, with some commissioners arguing it’ll be a positive move for the welfare of both the homeless population and other city residents.
The large group feedings ordinance was approved on first reading last week, sponsored by commissioners Manolo Reyes and Joe Carollo. The legislation would mandate individuals and organizations engaging in feeding events likely to attract 25 or more people, including distributors and servers, to have to apply for a city permit and distribute food at designated locations.
