Miami-Dade’s Washington lobbying set for a revamp

Miami-Dade County set aside normal procedures in order to renew or replace four Washington lobbying contracts that have been on month-to-month extensions since 2012.
Commissioners last week voted 12-0 to waive selection rules, local preference requirements and bid protect regulations in moving to create a bid selection committee handpicked by commission Chairman Oliver Gilbert III: the members of his Chairman’s Policy Council and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, a committee that he also chairs.
