Miami-Dade forges Made in USA requirement for iron and steel in contracts

In the same vein as an 88-year-old federal procurement law, Miami-Dade will now require future county infrastructure contracts calling for the use of iron and steel products to demand that the materials be domestically sourced.
Commissioners voted unanimously last week to create the “Buy American Iron and Steel Procurement Program,” a new ordinance setting guidelines and a list of iron and steel products that but for a few exceptions must be made in the United States.
