Florida banking community faces blitz of legislation

The traditional legislative battle between banks and credit unions seems to have cooled off a bit, but there are still challenges for bankers to mount in Tallahassee.
“They [credit unions] filed a bill to take public deposits, and we’re working on that,” said Anthony DiMarco, Florida Bankers Association executive vice president of government affairs. Credit unions provide a lot of services traditional banks do, but handling municipal payrolls and other public funds is still legally out of their reach.
