FIU and Baptist Health to begin new physician training programs
Written by Janetssy Lugo on February 27, 2024
Florida International University and Baptist Health are moving forward in their new alliance as they work toward benefiting the community.
“I think that the most exciting portion of this overarching affiliation agreement is our joint efforts to train physicians for the future generation,” said Ana Lopez-Blazquez, executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Baptist Health South Florida. “We are commencing physician training programs, it’s called Graduate Medical Education [GME]. Baptist was going to try and embark in that path on their own, but the partnership with FIU just gives us that heightened credential, that halo, that affiliation with the academic facility just makes it a much more powerful approach for us to be able to attract graduated medical students into our residency programs.”
