City of Miami hiking its spending more than 10%

As the fiscal calendar is set to reset Oct. 1, Miami approved a tentative $3.5 billion budget for 2025, up over 10% from last year.
During the first budget hearing Sept. 7, city commissioners voted 5-0 in favor of the 2024-2025 financial plan, which includes $1.686 billion for capital expenses like citywide infrastructure projects and a $1.788 billion operating budget. Under the plan, all but one city office will receive more funding, with the police budget seeing the greatest increase, and new a department will be created to spur economic innovation and development.
