CONDO REPAIR LOANS: The clock is ticking to apply for no-interest Miami-Dade loans of up to $50,000 per condo unit for households with under 140% of area median income to help with condo special assessments based on repairs needed for building recertifications. The closed program reopened last week and applications end June 30. It’s highly time-sensitive, because loans are first-come, first served and only about $15 million is available. “This program has been a lifeline for residents, helping thousands of condo owners remain safely in their homes while ensuring their buildings meet critical safety standards,” said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. Applications have been shifted to online only, at www.miamidade.gov/hcdresidentportal – with priority going to loan applicants 62 and older.

FAN FEST PARKING: The Miami Parking Authority is offering parking options for those attending the FIFA World Cup Fan Fest in Bayfront Park from June 13 to July 5. The College Station Garage at 190 NE Third St. has parking for $10 for up to four hours, $15 from four to 24 hours. The James L. Knight Center Garage at 100 SE Second St. is charging $10 for up to four hours, $20 for four to 24 hours. And MDC Parking Lot 1 on Northeast Fifth Street between Northeast Second Avenue and Biscayne Boulevard is offering weekend-only parking for a $30 flat rate.

FINANCING VEHICLE LEASES: Miami-Dade commissioners last week passed by a 9-2 vote approval to borrow $80 million from Banc of America Public Capital Corp. to finance leases for 787 automobiles and trucks. Of the vehicles, 43 electric, mostly sedans or trucks. The capital is not to exceed $80 million over a one-year period but could be less, said a memo from Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. The mayor’s memo listed 14 departments and constitutional offices that will get the 787 vehicles. The largest group is 449 for the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, followed by 103 for Parks, Recreation and Open Space and 84 for the Department of Solid Waste Management.

FIVE COMMISSIONERS ELECTED: Four Miami-Dade County commissioners were re-elected this week and a new commissioner joined them when none of the five drew opposition for this year’s election. Re-elected were Anthony Rodriguez, Micky Steinberg, Natalie Milian Orbis and Juan Carlos Bermudez. Newly elected was Steve Gallon III, who ran in the district that Oliver Gilbert is vacating to run for Congress. Drawing opposition for the upcoming election are commissioners Marleine Bastien, Vicki Lopez and Danielle Cohen Higgins. Terms of the other five commissioners will not expire this year.
