Miami-Dade County is ready to open 1,954 more hotel rooms in 2026, the fifth most in the nation, real estate data provider CoStar reported last week.
After a year when 749 hotels opened across the U.S., CoStar says 891 more will add 99,011 rooms in all in 2026, with the prospect of 1,688 more hotels opening nationally in 2027 and adding 191,926 rooms.
This year, New York City is expected to add 4,852 hotel rooms, Phoenix 3,650, Dallas 3,558 and Orlando 1,988 as the only metros outpacing Miami in CoStar’s hotel growth picture.
As Miami Today reported earlier this month using CoStar data, Miami-Dade has 98 hotels in a pipeline that would add 20,172 rooms to the county’s supply of available rooms for visitors, with six listed hotels promising 500 or more rooms.
Of the future Miami-Dade hotel supply, 20 of the 98 hotels are now under construction. The hotels in the pipeline have a mean average of 206 guestrooms and a median of 160 rooms.
Among the hotels here under construction, work is well underway on for the 17-story, 800-room Grand Hyatt Miami Beach Convention Center Hotel. That project by Terra Group and Turnberry Associates will fill the gap of a needed convention center hotel that the visitor industry has been anticipating. Completion, however, will be in 2027 at the earliest.
Of the 98 hotels in the county’s pipeline, 20 are targeted for Miami Beach.
