Omni agency’s life depends on Allapattah redevelopment

Just as Miami city officials were to approve the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency’s (CRA) continued life through 2047, one commissioner moved to defer the agreement and requested his district’s blighted areas be included within the boundaries.

During a special session convened Tuesday as the board’s usual bi-monthly Thursday meeting was rained out, Miami commissioners were to vote on the extension of the Omni CRA and approve additional requests to the interlocal agreement made by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners. The resolution was ultimately deferred to July 25 to give staff time to compile a report on extending the boundaries westward to eliminate blight in Allapattah, a request made by Commissioner Miguel Gabela.
