Federal grant to shield Jose Marti Park from flooding

The adaptive redesign of Jose Marti Park to alleviate flooding and build resiliency to high tides and heavy rains is to benefit from a boost of millions in federal funding.
Today (4/27), the Miami City Commission is to vote to accept $4 million from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to fund the Jose Marti Park and Neighborhood Flood Mitigation Project, which includes installation of a hybrid seawall, a living shoreline and other upgrades. Part of the money is also allocated for flood mitigation along Eighth Street.
