30-month downtown Flagler revamp running ahead of schedule

“I have people working to expedite the Flagler beautification process all the time,” Miami Downtown Development Authority Chairman Manolo Reyes said. The five-block Flagler Street beautification is ahead of schedule, he said as his concern for the small businesses there is influencing the project’s time and its layout.

Because of the street’s layout, the project has phases. “I couldn’t believe how many pipes and tubes there are underneath the street. In order to bury the cables at the depth that is necessary, FP&L is doing it manually because their machinery would damage the water and gas lines.” Lanzo Construction has to remove asphalt for FP&L to begin their work.
