Jackson Health Foundation targets $1 million in a day

For the second consecutive year, the Jackson Health Foundation is presenting its now annual One Day for Jackson campaign.

On April 3, the foundation is holding a day of giving dedicated to raising funds and awareness exclusively for Jackson Health System. The Miami-Dade County community will have the opportunity to support One Day for Jackson by participating in various activities leading up to the main day.

Activities include buying tickets to dedicated events and making purchases at select retail partners such as Chik-Fil-A, Five Guys, Sushi Maki, and Vicky Bakery.

Proceeds from the campaign will help support Jackson in providing advanced treatments, innovative technology, and cutting-edge facilities to give patients their lives back, said Flavia Llizo, CEO of Jackson Health Foundation. The foundation’s fundraising efforts also allow Jackson to provide life-saving medical care to all patients, regardless of financial need, and improve healthcare delivery, enhance the patient experience, and promote wellness and preventive medicine.

In its inaugural year, the campaign raised more than $550,000 with the support of the Miami-Dade community. This year, the goal is $1 million, she said.

The Jackson Health Foundation is the fundraising arm for Jackson Health System, a nonprofit academic medical system and the only public healthcare system in Miami-Dade County. The foundation offers several fundraising programs, including the Golden Angel Society, the Foundation’s premier giving society, and Guardian Angels, who are dedicated to supporting Holtz Children’s Hospital.

Founded in 1991, the foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors committed to philanthropic activities that, to date, have raised more than $230 million to benefit Jackson.
