Alina Garcia: Supervisors of elections plans drives to encourage voting

Former State Representative Alina Garcia made history in November by becoming Miami-Dade’s first supervisor of elections chosen by voters. Elected after serving in the Florida House from 2022 to 2024, Ms. Garcia brings over 30 years of public service and leadership experience to her new position, in which she cites commitment to upholding the integrity, transparency and accessibility of the electoral process.

Ms. Garcia’s career is rooted in her deep connection to the community. Raised in Miami by immigrant parents who fled Cuba’s oppressive regime, she learned the values of hard work, perseverance and service from an early age. A proud product of Miami-Dade Public Schools and Miami Dade College, Ms. Garcia’s dedication to improving her community led her to serve as state representative for District 115. In that role, she advocated for Florida families and education initiatives, oversaw state budgets, and championed policies aimed at bettering the lives of her constituents.

Now, as Supervisor of Elections, Ms. Garcia is focused on ensuring that every voter’s voice is heard and that the election process remains fair and transparent. She is committed to creating educational resources, establishing clear communication channels and promoting accountability in the election system. 

In her personal life, Ms. Garcia is a proud mother, grandmother and deeply involved in her faith and family, finding strength and inspiration in her values and her close connection to the community.
