Due at Miami International Airport: $4,850 private suite memberships

PS, which has been offering services at Los Angeles International Airport since 2017, wants to bring the same luxuries to Miami International Airport.

The county’s Airports and Economic Development Committee voted unanimously last week to urge the county commission to agree to the deal.

There would be no charge to the county and Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s report estimates revenue at $16 million for the initial 20-year lease.

More than 6,500 vendors were invited to participate in the county’s competitive solicitation, the mayor’s report said. A total of 136 vendors viewed the solicitation notification, and 18 downloaded the solicitation packet.

Miami’s PS terminal would be at the former Pan American Regional Headquarters, Building 874, across the airfield off of 36th Street.

“PS has turned the airport into a kind of sanctuary,” wrote a reviewer for Departures magazine.

What does PS offer in Los Angeles?

“Private Suite is located in a terminal far away from the traffic and bustle of the public terminal,” the company said. “We offer a back door to your commercial aircraft, private security and Customs clearance, luxury spaces and white-glove service before and after your flight.”

Details include:

■Arrive at PS to be greeted by “your dedicated team.”

■Relax with luxury amenities, food, drinks and services.

■Speedy, private TSA screening at PS.

■Chauffeured across airfield directly to aircraft door.

Clearly, these and other amenities come at no small cost.

An all-access membership at PS in Los Angeles is $4,850. A Salon-only membership is $1,250. Membership is not required. You can enjoy the PS experience with other amenities at an additional cost for $995 a person.

Private suite rates for up to four travelers range from $3,450, to $4,650.

“PS, originally established in 2017 as The Private Suite, reimagines the airport experience for the seasoned and discerning traveler,” states the company’s website.

“By owning and operating private airport terminals, PS allows commercial travelers to bypass the public terminals to indulge in a private and seamless travel experience with the spirit of luxury hospitality.

“At PS, guests can enjoy luxurious lounges or designated private suites, chef-prepared food, spa services and more, while the PS Control Room coordinates with government, security and airline officials to ensure the utmost efficiency, safety and privacy.”

Mayor Levine Cava’s report states that PS “shall provide client-centric services for high-profile commercial airlines travelers who wish to avoid congestion and delays of regular MIA terminal passenger processing and who seek an upscale traveling experience.”

The targeted demographics, states the mayor’s report, “are frequent affluent travelers who value status and seek out luxury amenities and access to upgrade travel options to avoid the congestion that is often experienced by conventional passengers traveling through the main terminals at MIA.”

Private Suite plans to open at Atlanta International Airport by year’s end and is in discussions with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.”

Private Suite plans to use an all-electric fleet of vehicles for its operations. Mayor Levine Cava’s report states.

Proposed amenities include vehicle valet services, secure parking for client-owned vehicles, luggage check-in services, private rooms with sleeping accommodations, bathrooms, showers, and complimentary toiletries, conference rooms and dedicated meeting spaces, private/quiet public spaces, spas, play areas for children, pet relief areas, upscale dining options representative of local and international flavors, full-service and self-service bars with premium liquors, beers, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages, an outdoor deck, wi-fi, airline and worldwide tourism concierge services, communal television viewing areas, flight information displays, electronic device charging stations, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

I am so excited to hear that our Pan Am Regional Headquarters Building will finally be utilized and restored. The former Stewardess College and Training center has historical status of Art Deco from the 1960’s. It was affectionately known as the ‘Taj Mahal’ as it resembled the US embassy building in New Deli, India.
I am a former Pan Am Flight Attendant and was trained there in 1973. I am the Miami President of World Wings International, Inc. the philanthropic organization of former Pan American Flight Attendants.

this is a win-win for the county. PS renovates a beautiful building that is sitting idle beautifully sent good business, and will then produce revenue for the county. this will elevate MIA to elite status.

Thank goodness our glorious Taj will be back! Perhaps it’s utilization will spur more interest in restoration rather than demolition.
I too trained there in the ‘70’s and my husband did his recurrent training there’s after his retirement from TWA. The worlds most experienced airline gets new life
