Connie Kinnard: Leads area’s multicultural tourism and development efforts

Connie Kinnard, as head of the Multicultural Tourism and Development Department (MTDD) at the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, works with her team to connect the dots between culturally diverse businesses and attractions to visitors who want to enjoy the many facets of our diverse community.

Her department works to maximize economic opportunities and to broaden the initiatives that highlight Miami’s rich heritage and the multicultural world, “second to none,” that we have, she said.

Ms. Kinnard spent 19 years at the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation as vice president of Multicultural Sales and Development. She moved to Miami in 2015 to lead the newly formed MTDD and says there is a lot to be done to continue to highlight Miami’s multicultural scene.

“What we’re doing is not one dimensional, it’s multi-dimensional,” she said, adding that it is gratifying to be part of the cultivation and renewal of Miami’s culture.

Ms. Kinnard spoke with Miami Today reporter Monica Correa.
