Doral Central Park work flows ahead
Construction on the Doral Central Park is moving forward as the majority of its civil underground work is currently being completed.
Work is being done on the sanitary main line. What’s been installed so far on the site is the entirety of the water mains, as well as the entirety of the drainage mains on the site, said Randy Perez, project manager for Kaufman Lynn Construction.
“Right now, laterals will be installed thereafter, and those laterals are what’s going to feed each of the buildings like the amphitheater, recreational center aquatic center, and all the different buildings on the project,” he said.
With phases two and three scheduled to be completed in 2022 and phase four in 2023, the 82-acre existing passive park at 3000 NW 87th Ave. will be transformed into a multipurpose and multigenerational park benefitting the entire region.
As part of the $150 million Parks General Obligation Bond, a new 70,000-square-foot indoor recreation center is to also include a fitness center, indoor basketball gym, child watch area, teen room, silver club room and multipurpose rooms.
Further down the line, Kaufman Lynn Construction will begin to level a bit more the rough grade of the site and fine-tune it based on which building and location is being worked on, said Mr. Perez while giving an update on the park’s progress. “But for the most part, all that underground work we are getting out of the way so that will enable the future of this park.”

Please provide milestones schedule from now until completion. The community was kept in the dark for over two years, we deserve better than piecemeal information.
