Gino Santorio: Guiding Mount Sinai to expand its research and technology
Gino Santorio joined Mount Sinai Medical Center as president and chief executive officer in February 2021. Since then, he has been getting up to speed, learning how the organization works, meeting the staff and planning projects for the hospital while battling both the Delta and Omicron variants of Covid-19 waves of cases.
Mr. Santorio leads over 4,000 employees, 700 physicians, and 500 volunteers at Mount Sinai and intends to expand efforts in research and invest in technology for the upcoming years.
Prior to joining Mount Sinai, he was president and CEO of Broward Health; held several high-level positions at Jackson Health System including CEO, an experience he qualifies as a “great opportunity to get to work with some veterans in the field;” and worked in two for-profit hospitals in the Tampa Bay market.
He is optimistic about the future and says “hopefully, this will be my home for a very long time.”
Mr. Santorio spoke with Miami Today reporter Gabriela Henriquez Stoikow.
