For Northern Trust President John Fumagalli, success in a competitive banking industry rests on change and catering to the needs and objectives of every client successfully. The bank’s plans for relocation could just be the best example of this.

After 40 years, Northern Trust will move its headquarters a block north to provide improved facilities that will better serve each client in a technologically-driven world. Mr. Fumagalli says the change is a major step forward for the bank in delivering market leading capabilities.

Aside from the challenge of making this move seamlessly, Mr. Fumagalli will continue to focus on taking care of everything that surrounds Northern Trust’s business in Florida, including banking, investment and advisory, to cite just a few, without being a full-time Miami resident yet.

But possibly the most exciting move is making sure his wife and four children enjoy a brand new chapter of their lives in a new city.

Miami Today reporter Blanca Venegas interviewed Mr. Fumagalli in his office in Brickell.
