A long-awaited water park beside Zoo Miami is on the path to begin construction in the third quarter of 2022. A concession agreement for Miami Wilds park was just approved by the National Park Service and now the developer, Miami Wilds LLC, is expecting that the county can finally sign all the agreements presented in the October 2020 county commission meeting within the next 30 days, including the lease with the county.
Paul Lambert, the project’s lead coordinator, told Miami Today that once construction begins, it is expected to take 18 to 20 months until the park can actually open to the public. “Our target opening date is March of 2024,” he said. Miami Wilds has yet to complete design and construction plans, submit them to the county, get approval, and get all construction permits.
