Will Miami Beach kick in for celebrity soccer games?

This November a star-studded soccer match benefitting the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Education Foundation may kick off on the beach, but commissioners still have some questions.
Lissette Garcia, the city’s director of tourism and culture, told its Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee on Friday that event organizers requested fee waivers totaling around $19,000 but did not ask for monetary sponsorship from the city. These waivers, which cover costs like police and fire staffing, may be absorbed in part by some city departments but are not free, she said.
