University of Miami team to deploy offshore structures to probe wave damage

University of Miami researchers are one step closer to deploying three structures off Miami Beach as part of a study aimed at finding the best ways to protect shorelines from damaging wave energy.
Elizabeth Wheaton, Miami Beach’s environment and sustainability director, told Miami Today that after close to a year of negotiations the city has a final agreement with the research team to provide $20,000 in funding for the design, fabrication and installation of the “hybrid” structures.
