Tri-county council focuses on training grants to fill workforce gaps

College training grants that can quickly ease labor shortages are the first focus of representatives of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber of the Palm Beaches as they gear up their new South Florida Business Council, which aims to address regional issues.
“It’s not another chamber, and we’re not taking members from other chambers,” said Christine Barney, the group’s inaugural chair, when the group was formed. She is CEO of rbb Communications and a former chair of the Greater Miami chamber. “We want to deal with issues that affect our regional success as we continue to try to woo companies.”
