Transportation trust eyes half of new county tax revenue pot

Melissa Dynan, a member of the Citizens’ Independent Transportation Trust, is expected to introduce a resolution at the trust’s July 13 meeting that suggests, among other things, that half of the county’s new property tax revenues should go to the trust.
A memo describes the resolution as “reaffirming the original intent of the People’s Transportation Plan (PTP), supporting the use of surtax funds for the expansion and improvement of the transit system … supporting expeditious unwinding to reduce surtax [funds] allocated for transit operations, supporting the prioritization of future capital surtax funding for the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit plan; and directing the executive director to work with the county mayor and the board of county commissioners to prepare an ordinance to accomplish these objectives.”…To read the full story click here
