Touchless parking equipment targets pandemic

To meet the needs of a Covid-19 world, Miami Parking Authority will be tweaking its payment machines in several parking facilities to allow customers to pay without having to touch them.
The board of directors unanimously approved $94,606 for Skidata, the authority’s current vendor, to incorporate contactless readers into its existing equipment. The authority, which manages off-street and on-street parking in the city of Miami, will be implementing the new technology to 18 entry points and 19 exit points, as well 23 pay stations, in its facilities.
