To save, county to outsource 6 more bus routes

After a long back-and-forth between the Department of Transportation and Public Works and the Transit Workers Union last week, Miami-Dade commissioners OK’d a one-year extension to a private contract to run 14 low-ridership bus routes and added six routes, saving the county at least $3 million.
“If we don’t vote for this item, the routes are going to stop and we won’t be giving service to the community,” said Commissioner Rebeca Sosa. “I’m not willing to leave the community – the people who pay our salaries – without service.”…To read the full story click here
