Study to form new Miami-Dade city of Encida may drift into 2022

A group that has studied the incorporation of several North Central Miami-Dade neighborhoods for well over a decade could continue to do so through the third quarter of 2022.
County lawmakers July 15 are to hold a public hearing on whether to give another two-year extension to the North Central Dade Municipal Advisory Committee (MAC), created nearly 19 years ago to look at forming a new city from a 12-square-mile area abutting Miami, North Miami, Opa-Locka, Hialeah, Miami Shores and El Portal.
