Silver Bluff gets home from new traffic-slowing steps

Silver Bluff residents, at wits’ end over heavy traffic and erratic drivers infiltrating their quiet streets, are grateful to city officials for approving an upcoming program they say is a good start toward addressing the mayhem they’ve endured for years and asking that certain streets be temporarily closed, which they feel their neighborhood sorely needs.
The Miami Police Department, using a $232,500 grant from the Florida Department of Transportation, will step up traffic enforcement with off-duty overtime personnel for city-wide “saturation patrols” that will look for aggressive and speeding drivers and buy additional laser speed measuring devices. The city will not be required to come up with matching funds for the program.
