Shortfall in physicians accelerated by burnout

An increasing trend in physicians’ burnout is clear in the 2021 Survey of American Physicians, conducted by the Physicians Foundation.
“Most patients are feeling that there is a shortage of primary care. It’s harder to find a physician, there is a longer wait to get an appointment and many are finding that when their physician retires, it’s more and more difficult to join another practice,” said Gary Price, MD and the Physicians Foundation president. “Based on the recent data and research, a shortfall is happening and coming.”
