Referendum may be next step for Férre Park conservancy

A proposed agreement between the City of Miami and a nonprofit for management of city-owned Maurice A. Ferré Park was indefinitely deferred by the city commission Oct. 10, with the possibility of it going to a future referendum.
The proposed agreement would have handed authority over the park to the Maurice A. Ferré Conservancy, which would have been tasked with fundraising $11 million within 12 months. The conservancy would start operating and maintaining the park when it confirmed it had received financial commitments totaling $11 million.
