New terms in Miami Beach cultural center/housing joint development

Facing newly revamped terms, Miami Beach commissioners this week are to consider the start of final negotiations with Menin Hospitality to sell the city-owned Byron Carlyle site, a North Beach movie theater that fell into disrepair, for development of a cultural center and multifamily housing.
The building opened in 1968, was acquired by the city in 2001 and was deemed unfit for occupancy in 2019. That January the city sought proposals for mixed-use development of the land, receiving two from Pacific Star Capital and Menin Hospitality. Pacific later withdrew, leaving the city to negotiate exclusively with Menin.
