In addition to other improvements at Curtis Park, the community swimming pool is being replaced.
The City of Miami park is at 1901 NW 24th Ave. in Allapattah.
City commissioners on July 13 awarded a contract to West Construction Inc. to build the Curtis Park New Swimming Pool Facility. The deal is for $2,983,745, plus a 10% contingency, for a total up to $3,282,119.50, allocating funds from the capital improvement budget.
Two bids were received. The Department of Procurement recommended West as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
The park’s features include a football field and running track, soccer fields, basketball courts, a playground, and a boat launch on the north side of the Miami River.
The park is one of many in the city that was found to have contaminated soil and is undergoing environmental remediation.
