New buyers prescribe entertainment at historic downtown Walgreens site

What was once the historic Walgreens building in downtown Miami is slated to become a “multi-level entertainment complex,” with construction starting at the end of 2018. Stambul, a construction and development firm led by Daniel Giraldi and Luis Rojas, purchased the 50,000-square-foot, five-story building for $19.75 million from the Alonso family, according to a press release.
The building, at 200 E Flagler St., was home to La Epoca Department Store until November 2016. It boasts a lot of history – build in 1936, it was the first Walgreens in Florida and only the third Walgreens outside of Chicago.
