Mixed-use, affordable housing projects touted for city’s Allapattah hub

After a solicitation to gauge interest in a larger than 18-acre City of Miami property in Allapattah, some respondents suggested mixed-use development, while others suggested capitalizing on the public land to combat the housing crisis.
Back in July, CBRE, a real-estate services firm acting on behalf of the city, requested “information from interested qualified property managers, operators, and land developers to determine the potential usage/vision of the city-owned land.” The two-parcel property of about 18.75 acres is bordered by Northwest 20th Street, 14th Avenue, and 12th Avenue, and the Veterans Administration Hospital.
