Miami’s chase for Amazon HQ called once-in-lifetime hunt

Miami’s failed drive to win a second headquarters site for Amazon helped pull the community together for future massive opportunities, but probably there won’t ever be a site location prize that big again, and in any event Amazon handled it wrong, a Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce panel told an real estate-oriented audience last week.
When Amazon announced last November that after many months of angst and effort there would be no 50,000-job headquarters prize as advertised and that Miami had missed out on the two 25,000-job awards as well, local leaders congratulated themselves that at least Miami had made the final-20-city cut in the race, showing the world that we are in the big time.
