Miami trolley use isn’t yet halfway back
Written by Gabriela Henriquez Stoikow on November 30, 2021
The City of Miami has seen an overall increase in on-road trolley ridership of 113.13% in the second quarter of 2021 compared to 2020 but it is still less than 50% returned to 2019 pre-pandemic levels, city officials told Citizens’ Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) members.
“I believe we’re seeing that across all municipalities,” said CITT Executive Director Javier A. Betancourt. “Obviously, ridership was and continues to be impacted. It’s starting to grow back, which is great to see, but some cities aren’t even back to 50%.”
