Miami tries to withhold multi-millions from county as leverage

Miami city commissioners are trying to find a legal way to withhold the county’s $19 million share of tax revenues it is due from the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency, with Commissioner Alex Díaz de la Portilla arguing the county still hasn’t given the city its fair share of federal funding.
City commissioners gathered virtually Monday in their capacity as members of the three City of Miami community redevelopment agencies (CRA) to approve the upcoming fiscal year’s budgets. The budgets will be approved by the city commission later this month. For this year, the Omni CRA’s tentative budget is $62.8 million.
