Miami-Dade trying again to provide its own photo ID cards

An effort to give residents another option for photo identification that has twice stalled before reaching a final Miami-Dade Commission vote is back again, this time with stronger support from the dais, community and county administration.
However, concerns of identity theft, who would issue the IDs and how broadly they’d be usable colored talks this month over an item by Eileen Higgins that would direct Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s office to develop a plan for a countywide community ID program.
