Miami-Dade OKs $48 million contract adding smart technology to roads

Miami-Dade commissioners have approved a contract of about $48 million for the Department of Transportation and Public Works to buy a fully integrated suite of streetlights, sensors, networks, and data analytics platforms as part of efforts to integrate smart technologies into roadways.
At the Sept. 13 Transportation, Mobility and Planning Committee meeting, commissioners moved forward with the contract awarded to Miami Dade Smart Lighting Partners LLC back in 2020 following a request for proposals process.
