Miami Beach weighs Art Deco District expansion

The first presentation of early results from a study of how to improve Miami Beach’s Art Deco Cultural District has given officials and residents a lot to think about, including big picture ideas like possible congestion charges, building improvement incentives and an expansion of Lummus Park.
Last October, according to a commission memo, the city executed an agreement with Zyscovich Architects for completion of a district-wide study focusing on land use, mobility and economic development. Some initial ideas were presented to commissioners last month, and the full study is expected to be complete by year’s end.
