Miami Beach water reserve, drainage on public works radar

Creative ways to handle Miami Beach’s water reserve infrastructure and deal with the city’s much-maligned drainage issues are high on the agenda of Jose “Joe” Gomez, who after more than 43 years of public and private engineering has just been named city public works director.
The city announced his appointment July 28 to replace Roy Coley, who in May was named director of the Miami-Dade County and Water and Sewer Department.
