Miami Beach keeps closer eye as historic district buildings slide downhill

Miami Beach will create a registry of vacant buildings in historic districts to track them before they become a more significant problem.
Under new legislation, unsecured or unmaintained abandoned or vacant property is declared a public nuisance. Property owners or mortgagees must register properties in historic districts with the city’s finance department within 15 days of their becoming abandoned or vacant.
