Miami aims to join West Miami to fight human trafficking

The Miami City Commission is set to vote today (9/26) on whether the city should establish a joint task force with the City of West Miami to tackle sex trafficking and prostitution along their shared Eighth Street boundary.
According to the legislation sponsored by Commissioner Manolo Reyes, the agreement would establish a joint enforcement zone between police of the two cities to tackle sex trafficking, which according to the legislation “has become an epidemic of significant consequences to the South Florida Community.”
